Much of what we accomplish in this life will be determined by our willingness to set right priorities; giving great thought and prayer before we launch our decisions. We have a limited amount of time on this side of eternity. James in his New Testament book, reminds us that our “life is as a vapor that is here for a little time, and then vanishes away (James 4:14). Therefore, now is the time to get busy and focus intentionally on your priorities.

Here are the daily messages for each day of this week with a focus on PRIORITIES

Monday

Philippians 1:9,10 : “And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ.”

The Apostle Paul here prayed that the Philippian believers would “discern what is best”; in other words, that they would do those things that truly mattered. Begin today by asking God to guide your life that you will do that which will matter and that will have lasting significance, both now and for eternity.

Tuesday

St. Matthew 6:33: “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all things will be given to you as well.”

Worry dismantles the process of setting priorities that matter. God knows that we have basic needs that are necessary in this life;  He is not diminishing their importance. What He is saying is that when we pour our life into putting His kingdom first, and His standard of living, all other concerns will be satisfied.

Wednesday

Romans 12:2: “And be not conformed to this world; but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.”

Resisting the temptation to conform, fit in, or compromise, will unimaginably frustrate the goal of setting priorities that matter. I am reminded of the account of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the Book of Daniel (chapter 3) where they were unwilling to compromise their convictions even in the face of death. Your priorities will be challenged each day; you must stick with your priorities at all cost and do that which matters.

Thursday

Psalm 16:8: “I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.”

Setting and sticking with priorities is difficult enough. It is wonderful to know that God is always at our right hand, and that, with Him, we can stand against all persons and attacks that will seek to hinder His work. Remember this as your guiding principle today!

Friday

Proverbs 3:5,6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

When you sit in a chair or walk up the stairs, you allow these objects to bear the totality of your weight; confident of their ability to sustain you. God wants you to trust Him in the same way. As you set your priorities for today, maintain the totality of your trust in God, and His ability to keep your paths straight.
